Pedal Prix

On Sunday 28th of July, students from our Pedal Prix team competed in the second Victoria Park Pedal Prix Race. This time we had two cars, one for the more experienced racers and the other bike for the lesser experienced racers.  It was a fantastic day, with our team of students and parents starting the day early to have our pits ready to race. Our teamwork from all our parents and the cooperation from our students really showed as we delivered fantastic results.

After a tiring but exciting 6 hours, the finals positions were sorted. The Vortex (the more experienced racers) came 7th and the Hurricane came 24th out of 68 cars that competed in our division.  Everyone has been to the most recent trainings so we have all improved quite a bit. Overall there was 161 cars that raced on the day, this included all the High School teams. The Vortex finished 65th out of those 161 cars, and the Hurricane finished 112th. Both teams achieved incredibly high results.

The Vortex’s fastest lap time was 2 minutes 07 seconds, this was a 10 second improvement from the last Victoria Race, with the fastest lap recorded then, 2minutes and 17 seconds. This just shows that practice and training really does help improve overall results. The Hurricane recorded another fast time of 2 minutes and 26 seconds as their fastest team lap. After the long 6 hours, the Vortex had completed 131 laps, while the Hurricane wasn’t far behind with 109 laps. A fun fact for everyone, these students are getting these bikes to almost 40kmph, with the Vortex’s highest speed recorded at 38.18kmph and the Hurricanes fasted tracked speed of 33.34kmph.

It was a terrific day, with lots of tired bodies, but the attitude to keep improving and bettering themselves is higher then ever. We look forward to see what these students can do at the Murray Bridge 24 hour Race.
