Every Friday there will be a book trolley near the door of the Library.

This is our ‘Book Swap’ trolley where you can ‘Take A Book’ and ‘Leave A Book’.

You can leave any children’s book in ‘good’ condition and exchange it for anything on the trolley.

We ask that parent’s help the Junior Primary student’s with this if possible and I am always available to help.

Please come in and look at our ‘Parent Library’ titles that are available for you to borrow with some new ones arriving soon.

The ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime will take place on Wednesday May 19 at 10.30 am.

‘Give me some Space’ by Philip Bunting will be read simultaneously by student’s all over Australia.

Student’s also have the opportunity to watch this book being read by astronaut Dr. Shannon Walker from the International Space Station !!

 

 

Drawing Club has started this term at lunch time on Wednesday’s and Friday’s in the Resource Centre.

This week we drew ‘Bubbles’ on black paper using ‘Inktense’ pencils (High pigment coloured pencils).

Any-one who loves drawing is very welcome to come along !!

WORRY DOLL  & DIGITAL CURIOUS CREATURE WORKSHOPS UPDATE

Pics from another day of amazing creativity with our Worry Doll Workshop !

We also began out ‘Digital Curious Creature’ Workshop.

Student’s made a paper collage then using the ‘Paper Monsters’ Book by Oscar Sabini  placed  it behind  a template of a monster.

We then used the ipads to take a photo of the monster and ‘Chatter Pix Kids’ App to animate and add sound.

Worry Doll Workshop

Student’s from Junior Primary were given the chance to sign up for a ‘Make your own Worry Doll’ Workshop and Middle and Upper Primary a ‘Digital Curious Creature’ Workshop as part of our Book Week activities.

Here are some pics of their creations from our first day !

 

 

On Monday children’s book author  Marianne Musgrove visited our school.

She spoke about one of her books ‘The Worry Tree’ which is about Juliet (who is a worrywart), Juliet’s family and the discovery of an old painting of a special tree.

The student’s especially loved the model of a human brain and the activity showing what happens to our brain when we worry.

Volunteer student’s held characters from her book who each took on a different worry. The children listened to the worry cards and then passed on that worry to one of the characters.
