Holiday break
We hope you all have a great holiday break. Whatever you have planned, we hope you relax and manage some quality time with the family. We are all looking forward to a more ‘straight forward’ term 3, full of learning and fun!
Report Cards
Mid-year reports will be sent home on Wednesday afternoon. Teachers have worked hard to write these based on the evidence of student learning gathered throughout the first semester, especially considering some students were learning at home during the COVID-19 crisis.
Please take time to read through your child’s report to recognise their achievements and discuss areas for growth. You may wish to use these conversation starters:
What is something you have achieved of which you are proud?
What are three things you did to help your classmates?
What are the three most important things you learned?
What is something that was hard for you at the start of the year but is easier now?
In what area do you feel you have improved?
What is something you taught your teacher or classmates?
Of the books you read, which was your favourite? Why?
What was the best piece of work that you did? Why do you think it is your best?
What are three describing words (adjectives) that best describe your school year so far?
Plans for 2021
Aside from Year 7 students graduating at the end of this year, if your child will not be returning to Happy Valley Primary School in 2021, please inform the front office. This will help us with our forward planning for the 2021 school year. Thank you.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
All schools are required to collect information about the numbers of students that they provide adjustments to under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and Disability Standards of Education. This data is used as the basis for national funding.
The NCCD involves the collection of;
- the number of students receiving adjustments to enable them to participate in education on the same basis as other students
- the level of adjustment provided to students
- student’s type of disability if known
Under the model, the definition of disability is broad and includes learning difficulties, health and mental health conditions.
If your child is identified for inclusion in the Collection, the required information will be included in this year’s data collection.
If you have any questions about the data collection, please contact Hazel Robertson or Anthea Bartlett.
